Overview

Why Vehicle Sites Add Clear Span Buildings

Vehicle preparation takes a lot of space and depends on the weather. Valeting, SMART repair, pre-delivery inspection and storage all slow down when they are done outside, and dealer and fleet sites rarely have spare covered space when volumes rise.

A clear span building or canopy can go on existing hardstanding beside the workshop or compound, with no internal columns for vehicles to drive around. The aluminium and galvanised steel systems are relocatable and extend in 5 m increments, so the space can grow with throughput or move when a site is reorganised.

Every system includes structural calculations and a 10-year frame structure warranty, and we price hire and purchase side by side.

Plan Your Vehicle Building

Shape a valeting bay, wash canopy or workshop around the vehicles you work on. Set the size and access openings in 3D.

  • Set the span, length and eave height
  • Position vehicle shutters and open bays
  • Compare insulated, steel and PVC finishes
Design Your Vehicle Building

Noah will review the design against your vehicles, drainage, services and site.

Specification

What a Vehicle Building Has to Get Right

Four points decide most of the specification.

01

Door Size and Vehicle Access

Door width and height are set by the largest vehicle that has to come in, from cars and vans to commercial vehicles. Roller shutters and pedestrian doors are available on the aluminium and galvanised steel systems, and doors are bespoke on the structural steel system.

02

Water, Drainage and Power

Wash water should not run into surface water drains, and pressure washers, polishers and heaters all need power. We raise drainage and supplies at the site survey. Electrics, including lighting, are available as an upgrade, and drainage and other groundworks can come under an optional civils quote that we offer and manage.

03

Insulated or Non-Insulated

Insulated sandwich panels keep a preparation, repair or PDI bay comfortable for detailed work. A non-insulated building or an open canopy suits washing and storage.

04

The Floor and the Site

Buildings are supplied without a floor, so the existing concrete or hardstanding becomes the floor and must carry the vehicles. Planning permission depends on the use, the location, the size and how long the building will stay. We work with a specialist planning company that covers the UK and can introduce you to discuss your proposal. See planning permission for temporary buildings for general guidance.

Whether you need one valeting bay, a canopy over a wash area or a full preparation centre, Noah Building Systems supplies automotive buildings to hire or to buy. Send us the vehicles, the work and the site, and we will price the options side by side.

  • Plan the space. A practical guide to span, length and eave height before you brief the project.
  • Compare specifications. Insulation, cladding, doors and access, with the purpose of each option explained.
  • Share it with your team. A single PDF for colleagues in operations, finance and procurement.
  • Prepare the site. The key points on groundworks, access and the scope of a quotation.

We send the brochure by email, and nothing else unless you ask.

Send us the approximate dimensions, postcode, intended use and likely duration. We can prepare an initial figure without a site visit.

  • Hire and purchase compared. Both options are priced against the same brief, so you can compare them properly.
  • Built around your specification. The figure reflects the size, insulation, access and intended use of your building.
  • An indicative programme. We include the likely project sequence alongside the initial cost.
  • No obligation. Use the quotation to review the project internally and come back when you are ready.

See valeting and SMART repair bays for the bays in detail, industrial canopies for open-sided cover and workshop buildings for maintenance space.

Next you will add the project details. Pricing is confirmed against the site and the agreed specification, and any survey date is arranged with you.

Frequently asked questions

What Is a PDI Centre?

A pre-delivery inspection centre is where new and used vehicles are checked, prepared and valeted before they reach the customer. It needs dry, well-lit space with room around each vehicle, and somewhere to hold vehicles before and after the work.

Can a Car Wash Canopy Be Open on All Sides?

Yes. A canopy can be open on all sides, or walled on one or more sides to cut wind and spray. It is specified around the wash equipment, the drainage and how vehicles move through the area.

Can Vehicles Drive Straight Through the Building?

Yes. Doors and open bays can be positioned on the ends and the sides, so a drive-through layout is possible where the site allows a vehicle to enter at one end and leave at the other.

Is a Floor Included?

No. Floors are not included with our temporary, semi-permanent or permanent buildings. The building stands on your existing concrete or hardstanding, or on a new slab laid as part of the groundworks.
