Overview

Why Choose Dedicated Valeting Bays?

Preparation done on the forecourt stops when it rains, and preparation squeezed into the corner of a workshop competes with paying jobs for ramps and door time. A run of dedicated bays gives valeters and SMART repairers a dry, lit and warm place to work, close to where vehicles arrive and leave.

Each bay is planned around a car with its doors open and a person working round it, with room for vacuums, pressure washers, trolleys and repair kit. Bays can sit side by side behind their own roller shutters, or run front to back as a drive-through line so finished cars leave from the far end.

The commercial route follows the requirement. Hire suits a new site, a seasonal peak or a contract that may not last, while purchase suits an established operation. Finance is available on purchases. Ask when you request a quote and we will set the options out alongside the price.

Specification

What a Valeting Bay Needs

Four things decide whether a valeting building works day to day.

01

Water In, Wash Water Away

Wash water carries detergent, oil and grit, so it should not run into surface water drains. It normally has to discharge to the foul sewer, which can need your water company’s consent and a silt trap or interceptor. We raise drainage at the site survey. Drains, gullies and any new falls in the floor are civils work, which we can include in an optional civils quote and manage for you.

02

Light Good Enough to Inspect Paint

SMART repair and final inspection depend on bright, even light with few shadows. Lighting is planned into the layout from the start, along with the power for polishers, vacuums, heaters and compressors. Electrics, including the lighting, are available as an upgrade.

03

Warmth, Ventilation and Condensation

Wet work in a cold building creates condensation, and some repair products need a minimum temperature to cure. Insulated roof and wall panels hold heat for year-round use, and ventilation is planned around the moisture, chemicals and heaters inside. Heating and ventilation are included only where your quotation states them.

04

Doors Placed for the Way Cars Move

Roller shutters and pedestrian doors are available on the aluminium and galvanised steel systems. Door positions follow the vehicle flow: one door per bay, a shared opening, or doors at both ends for a drive-through line. Permanent steel-framed bays can take bespoke door arrangements.

Valeting & SMART repair bays

Temporary, Semi-Permanent or Permanent Bays

The bays can be built on any of the three systems. Which one suits depends on how long you need them, the size and the finish.

01

Temporary Bays

An aluminium frame with PVC or insulated panels, for a new site, a seasonal peak or the wait for a permanent preparation centre. Clear spans up to 20 m, eaves heights from 3 to 6 m and length added in 5 m bays. Available to hire or buy, and it can be relocated when the need moves. See temporary buildings.

02

Semi-Permanent Bays

A galvanised steel frame with steel cladding or insulated sandwich panels, for an operation that will run for years. Clear spans up to 30 m and eaves heights up to 7 m, and the building can still be extended or relocated. See semi-permanent buildings.

03

Permanent Steel-Framed Bays

A structural steel frame on engineered foundations, for a dealership or preparation centre that is staying where it is. Span, height, doors and cladding are designed for the site, and the building is available to buy. See steel-framed buildings.

Applications

Who Uses Valeting and Repair Bays

The bays are much the same in each case. What changes is the number of cars and how fast they need to move through.

Franchised and Independent Dealerships

Pre-delivery preparation, used car reconditioning and handover valets close to the showroom, so stock reaches the forecourt sooner.

Vehicle Remarketing and Auction Sites

Preparation for high volumes of cars arriving and leaving on set days, often laid out as drive-through lines.

Fleet, Leasing and Rental Operators

Cleaning and defect checks between hires and on returns, at the depot rather than at a contractor’s site.

SMART Repair and Detailing Businesses

Bumper scuffs, wheel refurbishment, paint correction and coatings carried out in a controlled space, whether you are starting out or adding capacity.

Repair Garages Adding Preparation Space

Moving valeting out of the main workshop frees ramps and doors for chargeable work. See workshop buildings for repair and maintenance space.

Whether you need two bays for a new site or a full preparation line, Noah Building Systems supplies valeting and SMART repair bays to hire or to buy. Tell us how many cars you prepare on a normal day and where the building will stand, and we will price the options side by side.

Send us the approximate dimensions, postcode, intended use and likely duration. We can prepare an initial figure without a site visit.

  • Hire and purchase compared. Both options are priced against the same brief, so you can compare them properly.
  • Built around your specification. The figure reflects the size, insulation, access and intended use of your building.
  • An indicative programme. We include the likely project sequence alongside the initial cost.
  • No obligation. Use the quotation to review the project internally and come back when you are ready.

Valeting bays are part of the full range of temporary industrial buildings, alongside workshop buildings for repair and maintenance. Compare temporary building hire against temporary buildings for sale.

For car wash canopies, PDI centres and vehicle workshops, see automotive buildings.

Next you will add the project details. Pricing is confirmed against the site and the agreed specification, and any survey date is arranged with you.

Frequently asked questions

How Many Bays Do I Need?

Start from throughput: how many vehicles you prepare on a normal day, how long each one takes and how many people work at once. Then allow for your busiest days, for cars waiting to go in and for storage of equipment and products.

Send us those figures and the area you have available. We will suggest a layout and price it. On the aluminium and galvanised steel systems, length is added in 5 m bays, so the building can grow with the operation.

Do Valeting Bays Need Planning Permission?

It needs checking rather than assuming. Planning depends on the use, the location, the size and how long the building will stay, and the 28 day rule rarely helps on a working site.

We work with a specialist planning company that covers the UK and can introduce you to discuss your proposal. See planning permission for temporary buildings for general guidance.

Can the Bays Connect to Our Existing Water, Drainage and Power?

Usually, but check the supplies early. Pressure washers need adequate water pressure, the electrical supply needs capacity for heaters, polishers and lighting, and wash water needs a route to the foul sewer.

Electrics are available as an upgrade, and drainage and other groundworks can come under an optional civils quote that we offer and manage. Connections can affect the programme, so share what you know about your site at enquiry stage.

How Long Does Installation Take?

Typical installation for the aluminium and galvanised steel systems is 2 to 5 days once the site is ready. Permanent steel-framed buildings follow a project programme. We confirm the programme for your building in the quotation.

Can We Hire the Bays While a Permanent Building Is Planned?

Yes. Hire is available on the aluminium and galvanised steel systems and suits the gap while a permanent preparation centre goes through planning and construction.

Availability, minimum hire periods and end-of-hire arrangements are confirmed for the selected building at quotation.

Can Noah provide electrics, lighting, heating, ventilation and other fit-out?

Yes, these items can be considered as part of the project where required. Depending on the building and use, this may include lighting, power, heating, cooling, ventilation, extraction, doors, glazing, drainage and other internal or external works. The services are specified around the activity inside the building and are included only where stated in the quotation.

Can you provide roller shutters, personnel doors and windows?

Yes. Door and glazing options can be incorporated around the operation, including roller shutters, sectional or other industrial doors, personnel access and glazed elements where compatible with the selected system. Sizes and positions should be considered early because they can affect structure, traffic flow and internal layouts.

What warranty comes with a Noah building?

Unless the quotation states otherwise, Noah provides a 12-month defects notification period from handover. Individual components may have separate manufacturer warranties. Warranty cover does not include fair wear and tear, accidental damage, unauthorised alterations, inadequate maintenance, ground movement, blocked drainage, abnormal weather beyond the stated design criteria or use outside the agreed specification. The quotation confirms the cover applicable to the selected system. 10 year frame warranty as standard.

Is a floor included with the building?

Floors are not included with our temporary, semi-permanent or permanent buildings. The surface beneath the building, such as existing concrete or hardcore, forms the floor. Its suitability depends on the intended use, loads and ground conditions; any necessary groundworks need to be arranged separately. Noah can include sports flooring for sports projects, with the scope agreed in the quotation.
